John GRANT 
John was born in 1439 in Freunchie, Perth, Scotland. John's father was Duncan GRANT and his mother was Muriel MACKINTOSH. His paternal grandparents were John Ian Ruadh GRANT and Matilda FREUCHIE; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm Beag MACKINTOSH and Mora MACDONALD. He was an only child. He died at the age of 43 on August 30th, 1482.1 General Notes
JOHN GRANT, younger of Freuchie, who was a consenting part
y to a precept of his father in 1475, and an arbitrator i
n a dispute between the Mackintoshes and Rose of Kilravoc
k in 1479. On 8th September 1478 he received a grant in lif
erent from George, Earl of Huntly, of the Earl's lands of H
ermestoun, Kinrara, Gergask and others, and is there descri
bed as son and apparent heir of Duncan Grant of Freuchie. H
e was infeft in the lands of Inverallan in a precept date
d 9 May 1482, from the superior, William Crawford of Federe
th, on the resignation of Patrick Seres. It seems most prob
able that he is the John Mór Grant of Freuchie who is state
d by the Kinrara Ms to have married Muriel Mackintosh, daug
hter of Malcolm, 10th Chief of the Mackintoshes. He died vi
tâ patris before 16 September 1483, and, according to the a
bove-mentioned chronicle, at Kindrochat in Mar on 30 Augus
t 1482, and was buried in the cathedral church of Moray. H
e left issue three sons:-
