Philip de Montgomery 
Philip was born about 1056. Philip's father was Roger II de Montgomery and his mother was Mabel Talvas d'Alencon. His paternal grandparents were Roger I de Montgomery and Josceline De Ponteaudemer; his maternal grandparents were William "Talvas" and Hadeburge de Beaumont. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hughes, Roger 'Le Poitevin', Arnulph, Robert II L'Arbetot, Mathilde Maud, Emma, Mabel and Sybil. PHILIP DE MONTGOMERIE, known as the Clerk, or the Grammarian, a title given by cotemporary historians, from the fact of his having received an education beyond the ordinary standard, with a view, probably, of taking upon himself holy orders. In 1096 he accompanied Duke Robert in his crusade to the Holy Land, and died at the siege of Antioch, which continued from December, 1097, to the month of June following.
