Sofiya was born about 1141 in Novgorod, Russia.  Sofiya's father was Vladimir Dmitrij Vsevolodich and her mother was Richiza Ryksa "Sventoslava", Queen of Sweden.  Her paternal grandparents were Vsevolod Gavriil and Princess of Chernigov Svyatoslavna; her maternal grandparents were Boleslaw III "Crooked Mouth" and Countess of Berg-Schelkingen Salome. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Knut III, Niels, Christoffer, Ryksa and Margarita.  She died on May 5th, 1198.
