Sir John Stanley 
Sir John was born in 1423 in Latham, Staffordshire, England. Sir John's father was Sir Thomas Stanley and his mother was Matilda De Arderne. His paternal grandparents were Sir John Stanley and Isabel de Lathom; his maternal grandparents were Sir John De Arderne and Margaret Pilkington. He had two sisters named Anne and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother named George. He died at the age of 51 in 1474.General Notes
* Sir John Stanley, 1423-74, succeeded his father in 1463. He was MP in 1446 and Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1460. He was created a Knight Banneret at the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. At the age of 5 in 1428 he was married by special dispensation to Cecily Arderne, a relative of his mother.
