His paternal grandparents were Robert De Legh and Matilda De Arderne; his maternal grandfather was Sir Thomas Danyers. He had a brother named John. He was the older of the two children. SIR PETER LEGH, of Lyme, knt.-banneret, accompanying King HENRY to France, distinguished himself in the wars of that valiant prince, and met his death wound on the field of AZINCOURT, of which he died soon after at Paris. His remains were brought over to England, and interred with his father, of Macclesfield. Sir Peter had wedded Joan, daughter and heiress of Sir Gilbert Haydock, of Haydock, a Lancashire knt. of ancient descent and extensive possessions.
