I was born about 1078 in Burgsponheim, Rheinland, Prussia.  I's father was Count of Sponheim Stefan and his mother was Sofie Von Hamm.  His maternal grandfather was Berthold I Von Hamm. He had three brothers and a sister, named Count of Sponheim, Count of Sponheim, Count of Sponheim and Countess of Sponheim.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died in Vianden, Luxembourg, Belgium.
