Adele was born about 1170 in Ponthieu, France.  Adele's father was I Jean and her mother was Beatrice De Saint Pol.  Her paternal grandparents were Gui II Le Despencer and Ida De Saint Pol; her maternal grandparents were Anselme Candaven and Eustache De Champagne. She had a brother and a sister, named Guillaume IV and Marguerite.  She was the oldest of the three children.

‌Adele and Thomas De were married in a religious ceremony about 1188.  They had a daughter named Aléanor De.
