Peter was born about 1290 in Beaudefert Castle, Warwickshire, England. Peter's father was John De Montfort and his mother was Alice De La Plaunche. His paternal grandparents were Peter II De Montfort and Matilda De La Warre; his maternal grandfather was William De La Plaunche. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sir John, Maud and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the four children.-
