Ellen was born about 1250 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.  Ellen's father was Simon V de Montfort and her mother was Eleanor Plantagenet.  Her paternal grandparents were Simon IV de Montfort and Alice De Montmorency; her maternal grandparents were John Lackland and Lady Isabella Taillefer d'Angoulême. She had five brothers and a sister, named Henry, Simon IV, Guy, Amaury, Richard and Joanna.  She was the youngest of the seven children.  She died on June 18th, 1282 in Aberconway, Carnarvon, Wales.  She was buried in Franciscan friary at Llanfaes, Wales.


Ellen's family with Llewelyn ap Gruffydd

‌Ellen and Llewelyn ap were married in a religious ceremony on October 13th, 1277 in Worchester Cathedral.  They had two daughters named Catherine Verch and Gwenllian Wenceliana Verch.
