Eleanor was born about 1406 in Brereton, Cheshire, England. Eleanor's father was Sir William VII Brereton and her mother was Angella de Venables. Her paternal grandparents were Sir William VI Brereton and Ellen De Egerton; her maternal grandparents were Sir Hugh de Venables and Margery Cotton. She had six brothers and three sisters, named William VIII, Nicholas, Hugh, Matthew, John, Henry, Elizabeth, Margery and Joan. She was the youngest of the ten children.-
