Sir John was born about 1308 in Sodington, Worcestershire, England. Sir John's father was Sir Walter Blount and his mother was Johanna de Sodington. His paternal grandparents were Sir William Blount and Isabel De Beauchamp; his maternal grandfather was William Soddington. He had two brothers and a sister, named Sir William, Sir Walter and Alice. He was the youngest of the four children. He died in 1358.-
