John and Esther were married in a religious ceremony on February 2nd, 1781 in Botetourt Co.,VA.1 They had twelve sons and a daughter, named Josiah, William, George F., Haden, John, Elijah, Elisha, J. Elias, Miles, Thomas, Daniel, Jasper and Esther (Easter).

"Know all men by these presents that we John Terry and Thos Brown are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of fifty pounds current money for the ?aint. wherefor well and truly to be made we bind ourselves ?? firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 2nd day of Feby. 1787. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemonized between the above bound John Terry and Esther Brown both of this Parish If therefore these shall be no lawfull cause to object ??? marriage then this obligation to be void ??"
