Hendrik was born on September 27th, 1756 in Schoonrewoerd,Zuid Holland,Netherland.  Hendrik's father was Huijbert ZUUR and his mother was Lijsbeth VAN GROENINGEN.  His paternal grandparents were Johannis ZUER and Griefje PETERS; his maternal grandparents were Johannis GROENINGEN and Elsje TUCKERS. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Johannes, Pieter, Grietje, Grietje, Johanna, Adriana and Dirkje.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
