John Woolman, an "English Gentlwman" son of William Woolman of Gloucestor- shire, England, hearing reports of Fenwick Colonizers in New Jersey came over in 1678 and settled upon 8000 acres of land extending from the Burlington River southward to the North branch of the Rancocas, in Northampton Twp. His father arrived soon after and died there. The site of their home was chosen with excellent judgement. Built of brick places John among the well-to-do. John died at age 63 and his wife shortly after age 55.
