Jared was born in 1765 in Branford,CT.1   Jared's father was John Whitney and his mother was Deborah Smith.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Whitney and Hannah Darling.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 63 in 1828 in Georgetown.1
