Benony was born in Accomack County,Virginia. Benony's father was John West and his mother was Matilda Scarborough. His paternal grandparents were Anthony West and Ann Huffe; his maternal grandparents were Col. Edmund Scarborough and Mary Littleton. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Jonathon, The Elder ,West, The Younger ,West, Alexander, Anthony, Catherine, Scarburgh, Ann, Frances, Mary, Matilda and Sarah. He died in Accomack County,Virginia. He was buried in Will 17-1-1708 pro 1-2-1708.-
