Her paternal grandparents were Richard Weathers and Chloe Jones; her maternal grandparents were William May and Margaret Warner. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Alonzo Worth, Leroy, Celeste Ann and Josephine. She was the second youngest of the five children.-
