William's baptism took place on November 30th, 1652 in Dorchester,Suffolk,Massachusetts.  William's father was Aaron Way and his mother was Joane Sumner.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Way and Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents were William Sumner and Mary West. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Moses, Aaron, Mary, Joanna, Elizabeth and Susanna.
