Aafje was born on May 16th, 1816 in Berkel,Delft,Zuid Holland,Netherland.  Aafje's father was Jacob VAN DER DOES and her mother was Anna NELEMAN.  Her paternal grandparents were Jan Van Der DOES and Anna Van der MEER. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Arie, Jan, Simon, Johannes, Pieter, Jacob, Arij, Antje, Petronella, Anna and Maria.  She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.
