Johanna was born on September 22nd, 1813 in Oudshoorn,Zuid Holland,Netherland.  Johanna's father was Jan VAN DER HOEVEN and her mother was Kniera (Cornelia) DE ROUVILLE.  Her maternal grandfather was Huig DE ROUVILLE. She had a brother and two sisters, named Jan, Cornelia and Pietertje.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
