Jane's father was Stokely Towles and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Vallot. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Towles and Ann Stokely; her maternal grandparents were Claude Vallot and Ann Jenkinson. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named John, Henry, Joseph, Stokely, Elizabeth, Ann, Catherine, Mary, Lucy, Frances and Judith.-
