John was born in from Philadelphia,Pa and poss.. John's father was ----------------Shuman and his mother was Unknown. He had three brothers named Rudolph, Adam and Phillip. He died in poss Monongalia Co. WV.General Notes

Myself and a cousin Clifford Bressler, are descendants from John Shuman & Elizabeth Smith?, Ministers Run, Marion co. WVA, then Monogalia Co. VA. As follows John's son John & Mildred Kendall had Joshua Shuman 1st wife Nancy Compton, 2nd wife Margaret King-Joshua & Nancy had James S. Shuman (buried Kingsburg Cem. Kingsburg, CA) who was Clifford's & my Grandfather.
Anyway all we've read indicates that catherine was John's sister & they came out of near Phildadelphia to Ministers Run, Marion co. around 1800 plus or minus a few years & one brother unknown was in the Rev. War.
They had six sons and six daughters, named Jonathan, Benjamin, David, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Catherine, Elizabeth, Hannah, Mary, Rachel and Sophia.

Catherine was born in 1749 in Germany,or Philadelphia,PA. She died at the age of 72 on April 21st, 1821 in Monogalia County,West Virginia.
