Helen's baptism took place in 1700 in Sth Leith,Edinburgh,Midlothian,Scotland.  Helen's father was John SPROTT and her mother was Elizabeth HAMILTON.  Her paternal grandparents were Mark SPROTT and Katharine RUSSELL; her maternal grandparents were John HAMILTON and Janet PRATT. She had a brother and five sisters, named John, Janet, Marion, Mary, Jean and Margaret. She had a half-sister named Helen.
