Robert's father was Eudes OF BRITTANY Count and his mother was Agnes. His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey (Godfrey) OF BRITTANY and Hawise OF NORMANDY. He had a brother named Stephen I. He had a half-brother named Bardolf. He died about 1083 in Normandy.1 General Notes

Came with the Conq. in 1066. Was rewarded with lordships of Kary &
Harpetre in Somerset. Returned soon after to Norm. where he became
severely ill & became a monk in the Abbey of Bec & died soon after.
