Joseph III Northrup 
Joseph III was born on July 16th, 1649 in Milford,New Haven,Connecticut.1 Joseph III's father was *Joseph , Jr. Northrup and his mother was *Mary Norton. His paternal grandparents were *Joseph , Sr. Northrup and *Katherine Birdsey; his maternal grandparents were *Francis Norton and *Mary Houghton. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Samuel , Sr, Jeremiah, John, Zophar , Sr, *Daniel , Sr, William, Jeremiah and Mary. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 51 on July 31st, 1700 in Milford,New Haven,Connecticut. He was buried in Milford,New Haven,Connecticut.1 1 General Notes

Joseph Northrup, b. July 17, 1649; bapt. Aug 9, 1649, Milford. Freem an, May 12, 1670: m. Miriam Blakeman. She was born Feb. 8, 1670; da u of James Blakeman and his wife Miriam, (who was dau. of Moses Wheel er) b. in 1657, and died about 1689. James Blakeman was son of the R ev. Aaron Blakeman, who was born in Stratfordshire, England, In 1589 ; bred at Christ College, Oxford; matriculated, May 28, 1617; came t o America in 1638, and to Stratford, Connecticut, in 1639, and died S ep. 1665, aged 67. His widow, Jane, died 1674, aged 74 (said to be s ister of Moses Wheeler). Moses Wheeler, (father of Miriam, wife of J ames Blakeman) probably came with Eaton to New Haven in 1638. His wi fe was Miriam, sister of Joseph Hawley. Joseph Northrup died June 1 , 1700; buried at Milford. His widow, Miriam, gave an administrator' s bond, in the penalty of (L)300, dated Nov. 13, 1700, "annoque Gulie lmi Fortii nunc Anglae &c Duo Decimo"; account to be rendered at or b efore Nov.1, 1716 (when, as it appears, Miriam, the youngest child, w ould be 18 years old). She signs her name "miriam northroop." (I ha ve seen the original document -- A. J. N.) Miriam m., 2d, John Smith , and by him had Johanna (named after her aunt Johanna Wheeler), Josi ah, and Abigail.
