Aafje was born on May 10th, 1778 in Berkel,Zuid Holland,Netherland.  Aafje's father was Pieter Cornelis NEELEMAN and her mother was Antje Bastiaans UITHOL.  Her paternal grandparents were Cornelis Wouterse NEELEMAN and Maria DE VINK; her maternal grandparents were Bastiaan UITHOL and Antje VAN DER NEUT. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Cornelis, Bastiaan, Arij, Jan, Willem, Maria, Bastiaantje, Willemijntje and Susanna.  She was the oldest of the ten children.
