William May 
William was born about 1838 in Washington County,Tennessee. William's father was Samuel May and his mother was Mary "Polly" Million. His paternal grandparents were Cassimore May and Mary Horne; his maternal grandparents were John Million and Sarah Booth. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John A., Cassimore E., George, James G., Samuel F., Eliza and Mary Ann. He was the second youngest of the eight children.-
