William , Sr was born on December 19th, 1697 in Glasgow,Scotland.1 William , Sr's father was Edward Johnson II (Johnston) and his mother was Elizabeth (Walker?). His paternal grandparents were Edward Johnson (Johnston) and Mary; his maternal grandfather was Alexander Walker. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Anthony, Thomas, Arthur, Benjamin, John, Michael, Elizabeth, Penelope, Rachel and Rebecka. He died at the age of 81 in 1778 in Port Royal,Caroline Co.,Va.-
