William Gaines 
William was born on December 17th, 1780 in Culpepper,VA. William's father was Richard Gaines and his mother was Elizabeth Flint. His paternal grandparents were Henry Gaines and Mariah Woods Steppe. He had four brothers and a sister, named Richard, Stephen, Thomas, Henry and Mary Ellen. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 86 on February 12th, 1867.-
