Notes for ARCHIBALD FYNLAY (FINLAY):
Distinguished himself in the battle of Largs, in Ayrshire, on October 2,
1263, between the Scots and the Norwegians, in which the Scots were
successful. From this Archibald are descended the Finlays of Balchristie,
Fife. In a Charter, dated November 12, 1314, Archibald Finlay is
mentioned as occupying one-half marcate of land in Rousknot, Perthshire,
and as having married Margaret, a daughter of William Robertson.
