General Notes

According to family tradition he came to the US at the age of three with his father, )Sir) John Ennis, in 1738 from Athlone, Westmeath, Ireland.  However this date now appears incorrect as records recently discovered now show that John Ennis was in Exxex Co.,(later Albermarle, Col.) VA, by about 1729 as he was by then married to VA born Elizabeth Nalle.  He died prior to 1762 in Albermarle Co. where his will of that date left his estate to his wife, Betty;  his son, James;  and his daughter Barbary (Frazier).
