John was born about 1546 in Beccles,Suffolk,Eng.,England.  John's father was George DOWNING and his mother was Mrs Cicely DOWNING. He had three brothers and a sister, named Barnaby, George, William and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died on October 3rd, 1610.
