Goshen Clark and a brother came from Goshen, England to Elizabeth City, NC, where they lived and died. he was a sailor and worked on boats between Elizabeth city, Charleston, Savannah and the West India Islands, and also South america. He also took his son Barnebus to sea. Allthe children of Goshen Clark came to Ovid (in Adams township) Madison County Indiana. They were barnibus, Cornelius, Irene Madern, Kazia Scott.
Barney married Nancy Scott and had these children.
John---Sylvester, (called Vene)---Selbia---Sophia---and Sarah.
Barneybus was a large man and was found dead in his bed by his wife on the morning of Sept 1, 1856. He was aged 68years, 2 months and 1 day. His wife nancy died on March 15th, 1858 age 74 yr. 1 month 27 da. He (Barney) is buried on the Cox farm, just west of the Pee Wee Cemetery weat of Ovid. He owned land just west of where he is buried.
His (Barney's sister) Irene married Mathais Madern. They are resting in the Pee Wee Cemetery, west of Ovid. They had some children, among them were Miles who married and lived and died near Ovid, John---and Joe who lived a long time in anderson and partly lost his mind. Maathias madern committed suicide in his wood shed.
Kezia married a Scott and was the mother of Haywood, Elsberry and others, among who was one who went west. Elsberry's second wife was a daughter of Billy Saunders. Haywood married two of the Cullipher girls.
Dick scott (whose name is Haywood) is a son and Dick has a brother "Duke" who married Elizabeth , a daughter of John McAllister.
Haywood had a son George who lived at Huntsville, west of Ovid. a sister married Al Harmeson, south of anderson.
Elsberry had a son Winfield Scott who lived at the Shock schoolhouse south of anderson.
A daughter of Kazia married Smith Davis and had these heirs---Mrs. Hartzell, Mrs. Sullivan--Rey Davis--John Davis--and Ell Davis of Markleville, Ind.
Cornelius Clark lived on the corner just north of where Dick Scott now lives. He had a son Goshen named for his Grandfather who was so tall he attracted much attention, was large and weighed about 180 lbs.
It is thought that his sisters nancy and Lizzie married the Miller boys. Sylvester and Rufus who went to Missouri (sullivan or Mercer County, likely Mercer.) Duke Scott went there also. Adam Elsworth and nancy Miller had 5 or 6 girls. Cornelius Clark's wife was Thamar-------.
Mary married Samuel Saxton and had no heirs.
Harvey C. went to Illinois where he married.
Gosh went there to find him but he'd left his wife. Later Goshen went to Thamar city, Iowa. Goshen married Rachael Kline. Gosh as he was known had a son William who went to Texas. He had an argument with a cowboy who shot him.
