F. Tilghman was born in 1845. F. Tilghman's father was Simon Christi and his mother was Elizabeth Pierson. His maternal grandparents were John Pierson and Nancy P. Gee. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John W., Henry, James, Jennings P., dau, Mary, Sarah and Amanda. He was the third youngest of the nine children.-
