Louis IX was born in 1214.1   Louis IX's father was Louis VIII Capet and his mother was Blanche d'Castile.  His paternal grandfather was Phillip II UNKNOWN; his maternal grandfather was Alphonso VIII Castile.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 56 in 1270.1
