Edern Ap was born about 0410 in Of,Edeirnion,Merionethshire,Wales.  Edern Ap's father was Cunedda "Wledig" Ap EDERN and his mother was Gwawl Verch COEL.  His paternal grandfather was Edern Ap PADARN. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named Tybion Ap, Rhufon Ap, Ceredig Ap, Afloeg Ap, Ysfael Ap, Einion "Yrth" Ap, Dunog Ap, Dogfael Ap, Gwron Ap, Tegid (Tegeingl) Verch and Gwen Verch.  He was the second oldest of the twelve children.
