James M Butts 
James M was born in April 1811. James M's father was Thomas Newgent Butts and his mother was Catherine Gaines Broaddus. His maternal grandparents were James Gaines Broaddus and Mary Ann Ferguson. He had two brothers and five sisters, named William Mason, Thomas E, Ellen N, Ann Elizabeth, Martha F, Julia Amanda and Sarah C. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
James M and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony in 1832.
