His paternal grandparents were Christopher Avery and Margery Stevens; his maternal grandfather was Edward Greenslade. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Capt. James Avery, Thomas, Christopher, Samuel, Johnathon, Hannah, Rebecca, Joanna and Mary Marie. He died on April 17th, 1724 in Stonington,Connecticut.-
