d. c.727 B.C., king of Judah (c.731-727 B.C.). His reign marked the end of the real independence of Judah. In the BIBLE he is opposed by ISAIAH for his alliance with Assyria against Israel and Syria, and denounced forhaving heathen abominations and for using the Temple gold to pay tribute to Assyria.
He sacrificed his children to pagan gods (II Chronicles 28:3)
