Mary, daughter of Sir Robert Holand, knt. and sister of Thomas Holand, Earl of Kent, (the husband of Joan Plantagenet, the fair Maid of Kent) and had, with a daughter Margaret, m. to Sir James Radcliffe, knt. ancestor of the Earls of Sussex of that name, a son and successor, Sir Richard Tempest, knt. of Bracewell. Sir John Tempest, of Bracewell, had a military summons in the 17th of Edward II [1324]. He wedded Margaret, daughter of Sir Robert Holand, knt. and sister of Thomas Holand, Earl of Kent, K.G. (the husband of Joan Plantagenet, the celebrated "Fair Maid of Kent," who m. subsequently, the Black Prince) and had issue, Richard (Sir), his successor, and Margaret, m. to Sir James Ratcliffe.
