Jean Baptiste was born about 1718 in Quebec, Canada. Jean Baptiste's father was Pierre Genereux and his mother was Marie-Francoise Dessureau. His maternal grandparents were Francois Dessureaux Dit Laplante and Marie Bouart. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Francois Ambroise, Antoine, Louis, Joseph, Genevieve and Madeleine.
