Hugh was born about 1070 in Normandy,France. Hugh's father was Richard deTalbot and his mother was Aimee deAlbini. His paternal grandparents were William Talbot and Basilia de Flaitel; his maternal grandparents were William D'Aubigny and Adelicia Belvoir de Plessis. He was an only child. was made Castellan (Governor) of Plesses, in Normandy, by his cousin, Hugh de Gournay, in 1119. He was a benefactor of the monastery of Beaubec, in Normandy, and in the decline of life, assumed the cowl there.He married Beatrice, daughter of William de Mandeville, who was divorced fromhim and married William de Say, and Hugh became a monk.
