Thorstein Olafsson of Dublin, known as The Red, was born about 0858. The Red's father was King Olaf Ingjaldsson of Dublin (Hviti (the white)) and his mother was Auda of Hebrides (The deep minded). His paternal grandfather was petty King Ingjald Helgasson of Ireland; his maternal grandparents were Ld. Ketel Flatness of Hebrides and Inguild. He was an only child. He died in 0888 in Hvammi, Dala, Iceland.
