Robert II of Auvergne's father was Visc. Robert I of Auvergne and his mother was Adelgardeor Hildegarde of Mercouer.  His paternal grandparents were Visc. Arnaud I of Auvergne and Bertilde; his maternal grandparents were Ld. Beraud of Mercouer and Gerberge.  He was an only child.  He died before 0989.
