Owain Gwynedd ap was born about 1100 in Aberffraw Castle, Angelesey, Wales.1 Owain Gwynedd ap's father was King Gruffudd ap Cynan and his mother was Angharad Verch Owain. His paternal grandparents were Prince Cynan ap Iago and Ragnaillt (or Ragnhildr) Ingen Olaf; his maternal grandparents were Prince Owain Ap Edwin and Morfydd verch Ednywain Bendew. He had a brother and two sisters, named Owain "Fawr" Ap, Gwenllian II Verch and Susanna verch. He had a half-brother named Cadwalladr. He died in December 1169. He was buried in Bangor Cathedral, Is Gwyrfai, Caernarvonshire, Wales.2 -
