His paternal grandparents were Arnoul I, Count Of Flanders and Adaele (Alice, Alix) de Vermandois; his maternal grandparents were Duke Hermann Billung and Hildegarde De Westerburg. He had two brothers named Arnold II Count Of and Jean. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Gonzelon I Duke of, Bonne Adelaide, Bonne AdelaideDuchess Of and Adelaide. He died on March 30th, 0987. He was buried in Ghent.General Notes
