Richard was born about 1114 in Cruelly, Normandy, France. Richard's father was Robert (The King's Son') De Caen and his mother was Maud Fitz hammon. His paternal grandparents were King Henry I England and Sibilla Corbet; his maternal grandparents were Lord Robert Fitzhammon and Sibyl De Montgomery. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William Of Gloucester, Robert, Roger, Hamon, Philip Fitzrobert, Mabira de, Mabel, Maud Fitzrobert De and Juliana. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He had three half-brothers named Roger, Hamon and Philip Fitzrobert De. He died in 1175.-
