William, known as le Breton, was born in 1128 in Arundel, Sussex, England.  Le Breton's father was William D'Aubigny Earl of Arundel and his mother was Dutchess Adelicia de Brabant.  His paternal grandparents were William D'Aubigny and Maud Bigod; his maternal grandparents were Godrey Lorraine Duke of Lorraine and Clementia de Namur. He had a brother and four sisters, named Godfrey, Olivia, Alice, Agnes and Matilda.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 65 on December 24th, 1193 in of Belvoir, co. Leicester, England.  He was buried in Abbey, Waverley, Surrey, England.
