Christopher was born in 1568. Christopher's father was Richard Cary Elder and his mother was Joan Halton Chamberlin. His paternal grandparents were William Cary Sr. and Joane Herle. He had two sisters named Mary and Elizabeth. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Richard, William, Lettice, Elizabeth, Francis, Agnes and Mary.
