John Henry was born on April 21st, 1845 in Richmond NSW.  John Henry's father was * Samuel Nixon and his mother was * Ellen Connors.  His paternal grandparents were * William Nixon and * Mary Rowlege; his maternal grandparents were * John Connors and * Ellen. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, * Ellen, Jane and Henrietta (Harriet).  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Samuel George, William, Louisa and Mary Anne.
